This space is not usable storage or a prediction of overflow. Water can rise above the outlet during rain. Keep freeboard above the design high-water level.
When does it overflow?
Flow starts when water reaches the outlet inlet or spillway crest. Place it below the rim and send the water to a protected discharge route so it does not wash away the bank. Keep the outlet clear.
Pipe diameter or spillway width depends on the rainfall, land draining into the pond, outlet slope and expected flow. A local irrigation technician should size it from those details.
What about the anchor trench?
It holds the liner edge in place. The quote includes 1.5 ft of extra liner per edge; that is a sheet allowance, not the trench depth or width.

Pond size is not sheet size
The sheet has to cover the floor, both sides and the anchoring route outside the pond. Our quick formula adds twice the depth and 1.5 ft on each edge to both top measurements. This can overestimate a sloping pond and may not cover your actual trench.
Sloping or uneven pond? Use a rope first.
Run a non-stretch rope down one side, across the floor and up the other side. Repeat across the width and at several positions. Add the installer’s anchoring allowance at both ends. These are final sheet dimensions: price them in Cover / sheet mode, without adding depth again.
For curved, stepped or irregular ponds, send a sketch, photos and measurements before ordering. The rectangular calculator cannot decide the fit or seam layout for you.
How to measure the linerThe water-capacity tool estimates storage only. Changing its bottom measurements does not change the quoted liner size. Use surface measurements for the sheet; have the installer confirm slopes, anchoring and drainage for your site.

Compare the material before choosing
GSM means grams per square metre, the weight of the material per unit area. It is not a thickness in millimetres. Compare the rate and sample, then confirm the specification for your use.
